This tool uses a rule of thumb: about 20 BTU per sq ft of room area, adjusted for sunlight exposure, occupants (600 BTU each) and ceiling height, then converts the load to tons (1 ton of AC = 12,000 BTU/hr). Actual AC sizing depends on insulation, floor, windows, climate and usage, and rules of thumb can be off in either direction - treat the result as a rough estimate, not a sizing guarantee, and confirm capacity with the manufacturer or a qualified technician.
