Mid-parent formula: Son = (Father + Mother + 13) ÷ 2. Daughter = (Father + Mother − 13) ÷ 2. The ±8.5 cm range is the one usually quoted with this formula (see
this review of Tanner's formula), and that review discusses its limited accuracy. Many children end up outside it. If you are worried about a child's growth, ask a doctor to plot it on a growth chart.
