Stair Calculator
Calculate the number of steps, riser height, tread depth and total run for a staircase.
Common residential practice: a riser of 150–190 mm with a tread of at least 250 mm is widely used comfort guidance (secondary references attribute these figures to NBC 2016; we have not verified the current code text). The 2R+T rule of thumb says 2×Riser + Tread of 60–65 cm climbs comfortably; 17–18 cm riser with 28–30 cm tread is a common comfortable combination. Building codes vary by location and occupancy — verify your design with your local building authority before construction.
